The MFG's conservation action pillar includes all our workshops and training programs for adults.  The Ivoloina Conservation Training Center (ICTC) was created after government, university and community leaders expressed that, following the National Government's push to decentralize governance, there was a need for a facility and programs aimed at increasing capacity of the region's communities to manage their natural resources.   To that end, the MFG also developed partnerships with international universities to assist Malagasy universities improve their curriculums.

Classes offered at the University of Toamasina's Natural Resource Management Department use the MFG's laboratory at the Ivoloina Conservation and Training Center.  The MFG's ICTC  serves to increase the University's institutional capacity to prepare Madagascar's conservation biologists and natural resource manages of the future.

The MFG's adult education team has developed environmental training programs tailored to local decision makers such as mayors, village presidents and the heads of school districts. We work extensively with villagers and farmers to improve and diversify food production as well as with our own team so managers can assume more responsibilities and evolve in their job.

Madagascar Action Plan

2007 - 2012

"Skills, skills, skills!

Madagascar needs rapidly to develop the skills, know-how and technology to thrive in a competitive and global environment. This will take time but we must accelerate this learning process. Our policy is to use international experts to coach and train locals, attract more overseas Malagasy back home and to send more Malagasies to training programs and courses in the country and abroad."
